Kohath arranged to have his beautiful daughter, Jochebed, married to Amram whom he hopes to anoint as his successor. As leader to the Levite tribe, the old man chose Amram over his own sons, because of Amram’s strong devotion to his duty to the tribe and his staunch belief in Almighty God.
Chapter 02
In the magical experience of childbirth, Jochebed gives birth to a baby girl, whom she names Miriam. Amid the loving support of the midwives and women of the village, Jochebed experiences the profound joy of motherhood as she holds her precious daughter close to her heart. The birth of Miriam marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, filled with hope, love, and the promise of a brighter future even in their life slavery, conflict, and oppression.
Chapter 03
Pharoah, King of Egypt, considers himself the divine son of Re. He believes this relationship to the all-powerful Egyptian sun god gives him the power of life or death over all things living thing in Egypt. Yet the king is becoming more and more uneasy because of the Hebrew people who live within the borders of his kingdom.
Chapter 04
Without warning Hebrew mid wives, Shiphrah and Puah, are ordered to appear at Pharoah’s palace immediately. The women cannot imagine why the king would be interested in anything they would have to offer him. They are suspicious, but they do not dare disobey the order.

Phyllis has spent many decades teaching her students how God’s promises never fail, become obsolete, or expire. After receiving her college degree from Abilene Christian University with a major in art and Bible, she completed her master’s degree at Texas A&M University Commerce. A trip to Israel allowed her to see actual place where the events of the Bible happened and gain insight into the lives of the people who lived there.
The author lives near Honey Grove, Texas with her awesome husband, Wayne, who is a farmer. She can often be seen in front of her easel painting the local landscape.
